Travel to and Arrival in Slovakia

8-9 Aug Departed Kaiserslatuern 8 Aug at 3:30 for Slovakia to visit Tina. Alot of rain most of the way. Our plan called for meeting Tina and her Mom in a small town S of Vienna Austria where her Mom works and spend the night and ride to Presov the next day. We arrived in Moedling Austria at 12:30 am. Tina arranged a very nice hotel down the street for us to spend the night. We got up the next morning, ate breakfast, picked up Tina and her Mom and drove to PResov. Departed 9:30 am and arrived in Presov at 4:30 pm. Yep, that is a total of 16 hrs driving. We bought gas in Slovakia. Tina´s town is the capital of the region in Eastern SLovakia. Her Dad, Martin, cooked dinner of Roasted Pork, Potatos and Red Cabbage - all came from her GrandmotherÅ› garden or pig. We were welcomed very wonderfully by her family. We gave her family gifts and all the things we bought Tina that she had in America. Of course we had some beer and shots! Fortunately, they have a European keyboard where the keys are different so that makes it interesting. Tomorrow we go to MartinÅ› parents, Babka and Ditko in a small town. Crossing the Border Yep, the price is 25000 sK for 41,4L or 12.50 a gallon. Stop crying about 4.00 a gallon!!!

Hey Kennedys! Donna and I saw through the G's blog that y'all moved to Germany - that's crazy talk!

Back before we moved to Virginia, I took Donna on a work trip to Europe where we stayed in Vienna and I went into Slovakia one day. If I remember correctly, I went through Bratislava to Nove Mesto nad Vahom. The people were great and the food was pretty good. I hated it, though, when they would speak to each other in Slovak - I would end up studying the ceiling or the floor, whichever was more interesting.

Glad to hear that things are going well in Germany. Have fun unpacking! If you get a chance, check out Donna's blog at
